Laptop model number helps.  I would check the manufacturer's webpage and see if there's a firmware/driver update or something (had do do that with my laptop's touch pad once)

There's usually a model number to the bottom right corner of the screen or in system specs.  There are dozens of pavillion dm1 models.

I had an hp laptop back in 2007 that had a similar issue.  Problem just went away one day... That being said HP laptops from that year were pretty bad.  3 of 3 of us that had HP laptops had our hard drives fail in the first year.  2 of 3 of us had the internals with power delivery fail within 2 years (battery doesn't charge ect).

its getting a little anoying
