Overwatch SLI limited GPU usage problems

so i bought a pair of older gtx 580's and a gtx 590 because i wanted to play around with an SLI setup, and whenever i try to use either the 2 580's or the gtx 590 in SLI mode when playing overwatch, i have a strange issue where both the gpus seem to be limited to 75% usage and sometimes it will spike to 99% on both gpus for a few seconds but then stays at 75% usage, i was wondering if anyone knows why this is happening and if anyone knows how to fix this so overwatch will use both gpus fully? i used to use windows 7 on this pc a few months ago and SLI worked fine on overwatch with both gpus at 100%  but once i updated it to windows 10 i started having these problems. i only seem to have this problem in overwatch, other games work fine with SLI and full gpu usage.

This is not so much a "problem" as it is... Completely expected behavior?

 

I'm surprised you even get 75% usage on both cards actually.

 

SLI is dead and was well on it's way out even before Overwatch released 5.5 years ago.

It's likely you can't use them the way you want to. Those are PCIe 2.0 cards.  SLI never guarantees you a 200% improvement, and simply putting cards into SLI mode cuts their PCIe bandwidth in half unless you have a Xeon type of CPU that has more than the typical 40 lanes on the motherboard.

 

That said, load up a utility (eg GPU-z) to check if it's getting voltage/power limited. As the principal problem with dual-GPU setups in the first place is that you're not sending the game/program to the right device for it to operate in a dual-gpu setup.

i think i should have said this in the post so iv edited it in,   but i was useing windows 7 on this computer a few months ago, but now iv moved it to windows 10 im having these problems with SLI but the strange thing is it works fine with other games like gta v and killing floor 2,  its only in overwatch i have this problem, but it didn't have it with windows 7

Overwatch is (supposedly) DirectX11, While the 5xx parts are DX12 compatible, it would only be under Windows 10. That said, reportedly Overwatch is very broken in SLI configurations, so it might not be something that you can solve without contacting Blizzard, and since the GPU's are no longer supported and no longer have drivers being released for it,
