moving storage into another pc

my friend got a new pc, but his old pc has all of his stuff and information on it, he really doesn't want to reinstall everything, would it be ok if you were to move the ssd from his old pc into his new one?

If it's just a separate storage drive that should be fine, but if that was his OS drive and he wants to just be up and running with that drive he might run into issues. Windows isn't well known for handling major hardware changes all too well and there's a decent chance that he'll need to reinstall Windows anyways, so I'd just have him back up all his stuff and start clean if I was you.
