High Ping

For the last week I have had excessively high ping. My pc is connected by ethernet and I also have an xbox connected through ethernet but i never had an issue with ping up until recently. I moved to using wifi on my xbox and it has been working fine, however the issue still persists on my pc. Could it be an issue with my ethernet cable?
