i would put more ram in to future proof, in general i would suggest 16 gb with a 2k budget

there's still very few things that will use more then 8gb ram. i know idol windows 8 will but i'm pretty sure its a but and we still have a few more years before its needed

If you are using this machine for gaming, and only plan to play at 1080p, you will not see a difference in performance between a $1100 build and a $2000 build.  Go with an upgrade-ready $1200 build instead of using all of your budget, you wont see much of a difference in performance for spending an additional $900.

This is an incredible build that will last you for many years, while still remaining very upgradeable.

 

I would also keep an eye open for the MSI GTX 780 Twin Frozr GPU, it goes on sale for $450 from time to time.
