Dead phone?

So i wake up and my iPhone 8 plus appears to be dead.  No response from buttons screen remains black but pressing the home button I do get the buzz as though its on and just has a dead screen.

 

I tried to hard reset it and it went totally dead.  Not even the  home button buzzes anymore.

 

Since I've opened these before I opened it up and unplugged the battery and put it on USB power.  Still nothing.

 

Having seemingly given up i was sitting on my desk for a week until today it suddenly powered on.  it boot looped 4 or 5 times and I was then able to unlock it.  But maybe 5 sec latter it crashed and rebooted.  Again I was able to unlock it and it lasted maybe 20-30 secs before crashing again.  This time no boot loop, appears dead again.

 

Unhooked the battery again and tried it on USB, nothing.  Back to an apparently dead phone.  The hard reset sequence does nothing.

 

DEFINETLY no water damage before its suggested.

 

Any thoughts on options?
