Hello all! I was wondering if any of you have the Surface go 2 with the pentium processor and what your thoughts of it are! I am looking at getting a tablet/2in1 for almost exclusively content consumption like YouTube, Hulu, HBO Max, etc. That will be my primary use for it and maybe some web browsing here or there. It is currently on sale for $299 which is above my intended budget but I can get an open box from $250 which is borderline for budget. I have seen everyone recommend against the pentium version for it being slow but they also use it for heavy stuff like photo editing and other things like that. I just want something that has a nice screen around 10" in size for just consuming media.

Thanks!

Is there any reason you're wanting to buy a Windows device for that sort of usage? Something like the entry model iPad would be more than enough for media consumption, and I'm sure you could find one at a decent price used.

Phobos: AMD Ryzen 7 2700, 16GB 3000MHz DDR4, ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 8GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 1030, 1TB Samsung SSD 980, 450W Corsair CXM, Corsair Carbide 175R, Windows 10 Pro

Polaris: Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASRock X79 Extreme6, 12GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, 6GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, 1TB Crucial MX500, 750W Corsair RM750, Antec SX635, Windows 10 Pro

Pluto: Intel Core i7-2600, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASUS P8Z68-V, 4GB XFX AMD Radeon RX 570, 8GB ASUS AMD Radeon RX 570, 1TB Samsung 860 EVO, 3TB Seagate BarraCuda, 750W EVGA BQ, Fractal Design Focus G, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

York (NAS): Intel Core i5-2400, 16GB 1600MHz DDR3, HP Compaq OEM, 240GB Kingston V300 (boot), 3x2TB Seagate BarraCuda, 320W HP PSU, HP Compaq 6200 Pro, TrueNAS CORE (12.0)

the reason why I was considering a windows device is because I also want to use it as a second monitor with the ability to use Mouse without Borders on it from my main pc. It would be simple to setup rather than figuring out how to do it with another device or having to purchase some other app to have ease of control. Basically I want a tablet that I can use as a second monitor only for media consumption

your thoughts of it are!

Cant remember if my friend has the first gen or second gen. I know he uses it some times for work, he works in IT. He seems to like it, but it also the fact he understands its limitations. My problem with the Surface devices is the keyboard is an add on, which isn't an issue until you see what they want for one.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

If you want to mouse across it with Mouse without Borders, then Windows is not a consideration because it is mandatory.

No point asking for our thoughts.

My question was thoughts on processor in the tablet not on the operating system it would be running? I am not 100% dead set on windows as I can find a solution on an Android, chrombook iOS device. I said I was considering it, which maybe was a poor choice of words, and mouse without borders seemed like the best solution for my wants but I would consider other opinions if someone had another idea.

Ya I agree with you on that point, the keyboard is WAY too expensive. I found a used keyboard on eBay for like $25 that I could get but honestly I probably will only use the device as a tablet. If I ever need the keyboard I can get one later on. My main concern is just the potentially underpowered processor but it seems like the only people who don't like the pentium in it are the ones who don't understand that it isn't meant to be a workhorse lol. Everyone who is fine with it all seem to use it for light work like browsing the web and stuff of that sort.
