So I need to RMA my Vengeance 2100's as they buzz in the right earcup. I've opened a ticket and it's been approved but I was just wondering what the receipt is actually used for. Do they just check the date of purchase for the warranty or do they go and bill the store you bought it from for the replacement? Just curious since wouldn't the serial number have the date of manufacture tied to it?

It's a proof of purchase. They probably check the date of purchase as well. You have to remember that date of manufacture =/= date of purchase. A product can sit on a shelf for 6 months before it gets bought and has its (e.g.) 12 month warranty activated. You wouldn't want half of your warranty time gone just because you didn't buy the product on release date would you.
