Heya everyone, hopefully this is the correct thread.

So I have been thinking about buying a cheap android box from ali-express for around 30-40$, and then try to install some sort of linux on it (idk maybe raspbian?), and try to learn a thing or two about crypto mining. Yes, I know I could have gotten the raspi 4, but the thing is that they are supposed to have around 40H/s and the android boxes would be around 100-200 H/s.

No I am not trying to do any profit on here for it is probably almost impossible, but for the same price as the raspi it would be better.

So my question is: Could you recommend any specific android box from the ali-express or similar store that would be able to run an os different from android (debian, ubuntu, whichever is similar to raspbian)?

Thank you for the help in advance,

I don't understand exactely what you want.

The raspi 4 is possibly the better choice for it's documentation online and open software, but the android box has a better hash rate. Ok, I follow, but then you said that you are not trying to make a profit because it would be almost impossible (impractical too) to have it. If you are aware that getting a profit is complicated, why bother?

I am not critisizing (very interesting question to be honest), I am just confused on your final objective. Could you elaborate more on it?

Hi, thanks for the answer, yeah I kinda did not give much info haha 🙂 .

As for the final objective: just a slightly more powerful computer than the raspi that I could beside using for the testing and learning the crypto mining stuff, to maybe have it setup as a NAS/media server, and price-wise be in the same range as the pi. About the hash rate: I thought that if its in the same price range why not go with the higher rate 🙂

Ok, I see your point.

I don't know much in terms of the android systems, but if you are interested on NAS and a learning experience overall, maybe you could consider an old computer? Like, it would be stronger than a raspi and more versitile for learning and crypo purposes

Oh, oke, gonna try that first 🙂

Thanks for the help! 😄
