My pc sometimes freezes for a few seconds then goes back to normal. They happen in game or while I am browsing the internet or using the computer in general such as using microsoft word. After using the computer about an hour or some it will randomly freeze for a few seconds howeber the next time it happens can be in another few hours or even after 10 minute. What is interesting is when the freezes occur it makes the sound as if the computer has gone to sleep and decided to wake up again. I'm lost I have reinstalled my operating system, removed and updated my GPU drivers, updated all drivers and windows updates. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Welp, since it's a case that can get lots of possibilities, try:

  • Test your RAM with Memtest86, run complete test on it (would be long 1-2 hours, but it's worth it). Could be possibility of defective RAM, and probably I thought this is the highest possibility.
  • Are you using SSD/HDD? Could be the drive's failing, at least check it's condition with CrystalDiskInfo/HWInfo.

Humor me, as you should do.

Add this aswell

Test large ffts (ram) and small(est) ffts (cpu) and see if any of em yeild errors or outright crash

Memtest is a good ram tester but i prefer prime95 cause it is usually alot more reliable than memtest, not to mention quicker at finding errors cause of how much it stresses your components

Thank youi for responding. I have checked the conditions of all my drives and they are in good health. I have used the free version of memtest86 and it found errors. It took 2 hours and 20 minutes to complete.

As for prime95 how long should the test last?

and it found errors.

have you OC your system? changed some ram settings?
you could also try load default BIOS settings and redo the Ram test to be sure that the RAM is faulty.

I normally do round about 30 mins of prime95. But I do that for temperature checks.
