When I play recorded video files or online videos, I receive crackling in the audio from my tv (Visio D32h-F4 ) connected via HDMI. When I connect my headphones through the audio output jack on rear panel (realtek audio) no crackling or distortion occurs. I've tried reducing audio quality to no avail. Crackling noise still appears on tv sound. Dell Optillex 9020 refurbished by ReviveIT, Intel Core i5 4590 gpu @ 3.30 gHz (not overclocked). My computer is hardwired to the router, not wifi'd.

Does the TV crackle when plugged in with a different input? Like just audio with RCA or aux.

Go into your sound settings of windows and change the bit rate.

If you can't find the settings I will send you screenshots

A/V exits computer via displayport, and I have not been able to find a displayport to RCA composite adapter, only DP to HDMI. I do have a video card in one of my other comps that I could install and try, yielding a direct HDMI output.

Spoke to a computer whiz locally, and he told me that the problem lies in displayport, that it is known for bad sound (though really good video). He said that the best solution is to put a video card (even a lower-end one) in the machine to directly export via hdmi. I have a gtx 1030 in one of my other machines that I can use. What the heck, I'll try it. Thanks, folks!
