Is it worth the risk?

If this data is really important to you, leave it to the professionals of data recovery from hard drives.

Well... for all my good talk of keeping backups, I have a dead 4Tb HDD with data I would quite like back.

Nothing on there is completely unrecoverable from backups. I have the raw data and the scripts used to analyse it, but it would be a massive pain and take a long time to get back to speed.

I've had quotes for data recovery for anywhere from £300-1000 depending on the actual issue.

From the sound the drive is making, I think the needle is probably stuck.

The thing is... I actually have access to a laminar flow if I needed a clean working environment.

I could try to fix this thing myself...

Is it worth the risk?
