Help

Kerryck

So I built my first pc Early this year. I bought a ryzen 3 3400G to try to get by without a graphics card, but the games I wanted to play ran pretty poorly. So I went ahead and against my better judgement bought a XFX RX 580 for $700. And it works most games with mid settings. But I really want crisper cleaner graphics without sacrificing frame rate. I know at this point it’s old news, but does anyone have an idea on how to try to get a graphics card at msrp? Or have an educated guess on when ish the “shortage” will be over? The price gouging is just insane. And I’d hate to go and buy a 1000 card that’s only worth 580. Thanks for reading sorry for the book

Have you tried to check out local retailers??? If you are located in the US and near a Micro Center, they may have stock of graphics cards.

Until there is a drop in cryptocurrency mining due to profitability, supply meets demand or surpasses demand. If things are going the way they are, possibly 2H of 2022 or early 2023.

Damn, that really sucks. You can try to enter the queue for an EVGA GeForce RTX card on their website depending on the model you want to sit in queue for. I'm not even sure how long you could be waiting in this queue as I tried myself back in June and have yet to see an email telling me I'm up to grab one. Check out AMD's storefront too as they have a similar system. Or even Newegg but I personally do not like the fact they have to bundle some graphics cards with a crappy/sub-par PSU.

Oh man,  i wish i could tell you myself!!

im sort of in the same boat as you but a bit worse lol, building my first gaming pc (very budget) and waiting to find a gpu to throw in my system sooner rather than later , the prices are just crazy! like you, i live in a small ass town and pretty much have to rely on good ol ebay to find a graphics card. Hoping around xmas ill be looking for an rx570 or a gtx 1060. Definitely hoping for prices to come back down, we def chose the wrong times to build our first PCs -.-

Do you have any IRL friends on east or west coast that could snag one for you?
Best Buy or Micro Center would be your best bet.
Heck I'd even off to get one for you but I wont be back from Europe for a few more months. I was able to get my 3080ti at MSRP while I was in CA in July.
