Hello,

So recently after using an image processing soft (Which barely using 20-25% of cpu and maybe 70-80% gpu) I noticed a strange buzzing sound comming from who knows where.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fvrd620MCbL1zs2FxGobHgZIGOwiSKNm/view?usp=sharing

Here you can hear the sound then it goes oout for a moment and gets back so easy to understand what it is.

What I tried:

Gpu stress test - no sound

cpu stress test - no sound

stopping all fans - nothing

So only thing I can think of now after seeing in task manager very high power usage on this app is the PSU. Can it really be that? I was too fast after hearing the noise got scarred that its cooling and already ordered the new one xD Will be delivered today. But if its PSU why only when using this app, it barely using any cpu and only gpu and I checked gpu does not give any sounds other than fans.

Its definitely some form of electrical whine, most likely coil whine.

Its not unusual for that sort of thing to only occur due to the specific current draw patterns of a certain application only.

Its kinda impossible to say if its an actual fault or just normal though.

Take the side of the case off, scan the phone left and right as you work down the height. It really helps localize where the sound is coming from.

will do that after replacing my cpu cooling as it is already on the way, also will try to lube gpu fans to be sure and then will see, but now after other person comment Im pretty sure it is psu? I guess?

I didn't mean to imply its definitely PSU, as I had a system where the PSU, GPU and motherboard all whined when the GPU was under a certain load.

The PSU from that system, doesn't whine when using it with a different system.

It can be really hard to pin down even with the case open, especially if its happening in multiple places.  But it does tend be worse if the PSU isn't putting out clean power.

How old is the PSU and do you suffer from brown-outs and/or power cuts at all, as that sort of thing can really stress the PSU.

psu hmmm, time flies fast so mby few years now 2-3 or around that. and yes occasional power outages happens all over the year and cant do anything about it, can randomly happened coz of whatever reasons. happens at least 3-5 times a year for sure.

-----edit----

oh and yes I tried to pinpoint it, opened case and tried to see where it comes from, but it sounds as if it comes from everywhere 😄 (less on top and front where no mobo and only fans so def from psu/mobo location 😄

More than likely coil whine, which you can't really do anything about. My PSU whines like a baby when I put my GPU under load, you just get used to the sound over time. It isn't faulty hardware or a problem for the hardware and it won't reduce the longevity of your hardware, it's just annoying.

What did you use to try and see where it comes from? I couldn't figure out the location just by taking the side off and listening with my ear but the first video recording, I could pinpoint it precisely.

tried to hear it then tried to film it and see if it helps still barely helps mby its little more to the left side of mobo or mby its lower left part but then psu is there too idk xD
