Encryption Software In LTT Video

Hello,

 

I am looking to individually encrypt files, which will then be uploaded to a shared google drive.

I need to ensure only those who know the decryption codes for each file are able to access them.

I have noticed LTT using encryption software in some of it's videos, and would like to know which it is using, as well as which it would suggest for my use case?

*I can't find the videos containing the encryption software as I've been searching for a few hours at this point.

 

I've looked into Veracrypt, however the "container" method is closest they have, and it doesn't fit my needs.

I've read of Boxcrypter, however I am not 100% sure I'd trust it, or that it would accomplish my needs.

rclone can encrypt individual files and works with Google Drive. The only limitation I see is that all the files in a folder would need to have the same key, I think, but having each user's files in their own directory isn't that huge of a jump IMO. I'll leave the actual implementation as an exercise for the reader, but I've used rclone (without encryption) successfully to archive large Drive folders (that take forever to zip server-side), and doing encrypted backups in Drive has been on my todo list.

Don't know what LTT uses but if you want to encrypt individual files or folders (not containers), 7zip is the way to go. 

 

Edit: Don't forget to set the compression level to "store" (level 0 in the cli). Otherwise you might spend a lot of CPU time compressing stuff, a lot of which might not be compress-able.
