What is Wrong With This Xbox Controller?

My friend gave me his old broken Xbox controller. He apparently got so mad one day and threw it at the wall. I had some spare xbox controller parts but once I opened this new controller I saw there was no physical issues whatsoever. I first thought the board that controls the buttons and stuff was broken but I tested it and it works perfectly. Once i tried to test the joystick board with any other asembly i had, the controller never powered on. The controller only powered on if I used a different controller joystick board. What is causing this issue? Are there any common issues that occur with throwing and that board? I cant seem to find anyone experiencing the same thing. Thankyou for your help!
