Impossible pc

Vanp31

Hey guys having a slight problem with my buddies pc, it crashes very inconsistently on games some days it will crash every 5 minutes or won’t for days but once it crashes it will keep happening. There are two games he has found that don’t crash his pc one being rocket league and the other being war thunder. We have reinstalled windows, done safe boots run memory diagnostic, changed the ram and both are supported on the qvl list. We have brought it to micro center 3 times and they have no idea why it’s crashing. The pc completely freezes then when u restart it, it won’t post until it’s unplugged entirely for a few minutes.

Asrock phantoming gaming 4

Evga 3060 ti

ryzen 5 3600

Corsair Vengeance 16 gb

750 Watt ps

windows 10 home 64 bit

Run prime95 small ffts and large ffts for an hour or 2

Run furmark burn test for an hour or 2

Report back here if you find any errors or the gpu starts artifacting or crash upon starting a test

Disable Fast boot both in Windows and in the BIOS. Both of the ASRock boards I currently own (Z170 OC Formula and X570 Taichi) get stuck on POST when you try to restart with those settings on, so it's worth trying to see if that fixes that. It's not like boot times are that much slower with them off, and in general they can cause issues.

For everything else, do what @Somerandomtechyboisaid.

Hey did furnmark no errors found after 10 minutes of prime95 cpu temp got to 81 c and he stopped the test and it completely froze and didn’t boot like it usually does when playing games but it’s not thermals I think because when he’s playing games the temp on cpu doesn’t go above 65 and gpu above 55 c

There it is, cpu instability

Large ffts test or small ffts test?

Cpu clockspeeds and voltages while running the test?

It was the large but his cpu was ramping up to 4.1 and the voltage was going anywhere from 1.375 to 1.41

Ram instability

Raise volts abit, maybe ram volt +0.1 and soc volt +0.05

If that doesnt work then downclock the ram a lil, maybe 3200 or 3000mhz

The ram won’t run at 3200 it only runs at 2933 even though it’s on the qvl and we have tried 3 different kits but we tried raising the voltage and it seems okay so far I’ll keep you updated but it does there where it’s fine for a day then crashes for a few
