B550 Mobo compatibility

I made the mistake of purchasing a CPU and Motherboard without making sure they were compatible. The CPU is a Ryzen 5 1600AF and the motherboard is a Gigabyte B550m DS3H. I've looked online and things are looking grim. Can someone confirm if they know whether these parts will work together? 

 

If not, what would you recommend I do? Buy a different CPU and sell the current? Buy a different Mobo and sell the current? Which ones would you recommend?

As shown in the table, B550 does not support 1000 series CPUs. Can you still return the mobo?

They aren't compatible. I'd recommend you sell the CPU and get something else, the 1600AF isn't really that great a value and you can usually get something better for about the same price. The R5 3600 should be able to be had for about $160 used, the same price you paid for the 1600AF. 

 

If you can't pay any more, you're only real option is to sell the board and get something B450.

I bought both parts through Facebook marketplace, the CPU used, the mobo brand new unopened. I searched more online and found someone on reddit who had the same problem, he had bought a b550 board and a 1600, but it ended up working fine. I looked at the specific motherboard he used and checked the compatibility list and the 1600 wasn't on there, but like I said, it still worked. Here's the link to that thread: 

 

 

This gives me some confidence to open the motherboard and see if it works, but if it doesn't, I won't be able to get as much money selling it compared to if I sold it while it was still unopened.
