Hello I have an EVGA 3080 connected to an LG 27GL850 using a Display Port cable.

After a fresh boot if i enable HDR the desktop looks normal and when I launch an HDR game it works as expected.  The issue is when I exit an HDR game the desktop colour is all now "off".  It is hard to explain but everything is faded, darker and "warm" colour.  The only way I found to fix it is to either disable HDR and stay on SDR (reenabling HDR doesn't fix it without a reboot) or through experimenting i have learned if I unplug and reconnect the display port cable, it goes back to working normally until i launch a game again.

This happened with Windows 10 and I assumed this was just a windows 10 thing, but I get the same problem now that I am on Windows 11.

I am running the latest driver at the time of writing, 472.12 (but had this issue in win 10 for the past year since I got my 3080, and have gone through many driver updates)

I do have a secondary non HDR monitor connected over HDMI as well but I have tried the exact same process with only 1 primary monitor connected and I get the same behavior.

As I have learned from these forms as i started to type this, i stopped, ran DDU and reinstalling as well, no change...

Games like Doom Eternal that don't require HDR on windows to be enable are ok, just games like Valheim\Star Wars Squadrons that don't do HDR unless you have it turned on in Windows create this problem with teh Desktop.

Has anyone run into this or have a suggestion on what i can try?  It is easily reproducible, I enable HDR in Windows, launch a full screen game, quit, desktop looks like crap.

I expect to be able to run Windows Desktop with HDR enabled, especially with all the Windows 11 "auto HDR" stuff.
