Yes, that $2400 amp/dac will work with those $1300 headphones...

I honestly dont understand why you overblew your budget on a DAC. The thing is rated for 600 ohms, it should be able to handle most high end non planars.

ok, can you suggest a DAC that in your opinion is good with the 800s

A stack of Schiit, Modi and Magni is good enough for an 800, and its at 190$. Now granted, i would go for something higher end but my Audio knowledge is in the value level.

Lol, you're really throwing away your money in the trashbin, do you whipe your butt with that cash too?

It's completely unecessary to pay such amount of money on a DAC.

 

From the 800S owners and stories here, the 800S is a very picky one for dac/amps. Some may work fine and others will make it sound like trash.

Is there any reason why you want the 800S? Your first time having a high-end headphone?

Given that Sennheiser designed the HDV820 around the HD800's, I would say yes, they should work well together.

 

I have the HD800S' and HDV820, and they work incredibly well together.

 

The HD800S' are an incredibly picky pair of headphones. Pick a source and amp quite carefully.

Main speaker setup is now;

 

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

 

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)
