Help for engineering PC

xant14

Budget (including currency): 2000€

Country: Greece

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Ansys fluent, CAD, and some gaming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I am building a pc for a friend that needs it for work.

I am thinking going with the following

Cpu: r9 5900x

Mobo: b550 tomahawk

Ram 32gb @ 3200mhz (whatever is cheaper)

Ssd: 1tb nvme (whatever is cheaper)

Psu: corsair rm850x watt

GPU: rtx 3060

Case: pure base 500dx

Here is my problem I don't have the slightest idea what will work better for ansys.

What should I change/add for it to work better.

LTT made a video on specs for 3d modelling and design a few years ago, might be worth a watch.

To me, that system looks like it will blitz through anything but I'm not super familiar with 3d software.

For gaming and cad i know it's okk my only problem is ansys with fluid simulations that can take up to weeks or months.

This leaves enough for a GPU.

Prices should be somewhat similar in Greece.

850w ain't necessary.

Try to get 3060 ti if possible.

Id say 8/10 value wise (good)

Rmx are pricey but they are good units

Pure base 500dx is also quite pricey though still a good case

For rams i suggest going for 3200mhz cl16, cl22 will tank your cpu performance, 3600mhz cl18 is only useful for apus, 3600mhz cl16 wont do much to cpu performance, at most a 3% increase in performance aka not noticable

Ssd maybe kingston a2000 or silicon power a80

Cooler you can just get a cheap dual tower like fuma 2 since your friend will most likely not overclock

On the non gpu cpu part I know what to do my only strife is getting a better cpu and worse gpu or leave it the way it is. Case psu ssd cooler ram I am gonna buy based on availability on equal quality parts I have not any specific preferences since greece is a very small market and availability is a bit volatile from time to time

The only available at a price below 1000€ is a rx 6600xt at 700€ the same as a 3060 and ansys works much better in simulations with CUDA from what I have been able to research
