disabling igpu

My laptop is MSI GF63 Thin 10UC. Gpus are intel UHD and RTX 3050.

Will disabling igpu through device manager give a black screen or will the Nvidia *powers up* and take the position of intel gpu.(sorry i dont know how to put it into words)

(and i'm not asking about changing the preferred gpu by nvidia control panel or windows. Just disabling intel driver)

Well id say there is an option in BIOS to disable the iGP. Tho why would you do that tbh? Its there to save power. You can even make custom profiles for what programs use iGP and what use the deticated one. If you disable iGP then battery life will be sigificantly worse.

im just doing that to see if there are any performance differences. will revert back if there aren't any major difference.

If its anything lile my laptop, disabling the igpu makes the frame rate choppy all the time, likely because it doesn't have a mux switch, but idk. Unless youre using an external display, I doubt you'd see any benefit.

Optimus will not work but the display will still output from iGPU

 

There's a reason why MUX exists.
