They do sell GPUs. I got my 3080Ti from Amazon.

But since GPUs are hard to come by these days and Amazon generally has pretty good deals compared to third party sellers on Amazon those sold by Amazon are often sold out pretty quick. Which might make it look like they do not sell GPUs.

Oo wow ok I never even seen one. But I know amazon blocks certain items from search to my region unless I search for it on Google first and then. For example Apple Airpods Pro, unless I search "Airpods Pro Amazon", the search inside amazon won't show it up.

and even then it shows me that it can't be shipped to my region.

I wonder if that's the case with GPUs, where they completely hide the item, or it just runs out of stock very quickly.

Newegg has the same problem. All the available listings are from third party scalpers sellers. It's just the nature of the market right now. Give it a year or two and Amazon will sell GPUs directly again.

Governments should intervene with this bullc***, because if they really want, that's not too hard to stop those scalpers...

But.. is the real issue the scalpers? Or they're just a little percent of this and it's mostly due to supply issues because of everything that's happened in the last year and a half?

Governments typically only have laws relating to price gouging or scalping for essential items, like how my state limited price increases on toilet paper and foods at the start of the pandemic. Sometimes there are laws for pricing for reselling event tickets and the like. But graphics cards would be considered luxury goods, and those are often exempt from such laws.

As for why this is happening, it's a myriad of reasons. Scalpers are part of the problem, but more a symptom than a cause.

If nobody paid the scalper prices then you'd see prices fall back down as GPUs sat on shelves. Demand being what it is though that's not likely to happen.

Everytime Newegg has a graphics card as a Shell Shocker deal, it's an overpriced GTX card, and I check back throughout the day to see if the collective community has said "no" to the price gouging.

More often than not, the $300 GTX 1050 Ti or $500 GTX 1650 Super is sold out in a few hours.

We have no hope for gamers to hold the line as a group. It's a free-for-all and everyone loses because of it...

Hold the line!

That'll never happen. If I've learned 2 things during COVID. People are stupid and gamers are just about the most self entitled bunch there is.
