DIY Tile Display?

Go to solution Solved by RONOTHAN##,

There are Displayport hubs like that, but I'm not aware of any for HDMI since it's not in the standard.

What laptop are you trying to do this from? If it has a type C connector, you might be able to get this to work with that, or maybe there's some other way to get it to work.

My laptop only has 1 HDMI output and I do not want to use any GPU dock running from e.g. the slot where the wifi card used to plug into or any USB HDMI adapters.

From where I'm from, it is more affordable to get 2 1080p monitors than 1 larger size, higher resolution monitor.

I believe Dell's early 5k and 8k monitors were effectively 2 panels joined together in 1 housing.

Does there exist a HDMI splitter or hub that will allow me to join 2 monitors together?

EDIT: I am aware that HDMI splitters exist but the ones I'm aware of just duplicate the signal on both monitors. Not looking for these.

With HDMI 2.0 and software like FancyZones, I feel like a product allowing for 2 or maybe even 4 monitors to be joined together should exist.

My laptop is a Tongfang barebones and it does have a type c connector which only supports data transfer.
