Cooling question - thermal tape

TwistedFed

Just out of curiosity - Can I use thermal tape instead of thermal pads to cool my vrams? My pads are a bit too thick

I wouldn't. It will make future services more difficult. More importantly most thermal tapes aren't that good at conducting heat. It's better than nothing, but a thermal pad is generally better.

Thermal tape is generally so lousy, it's the reason I use a good quality thermal epoxy for heat sinks on rasberry pi's and other small projects like that.

*Edit* I'll add those are general rules of thumb. You'll have to check your tape / pads you wanted to use. However I think you'll find the pads are  better than most tapes.

Not sure what the use case is, get thinner pads?
