Fast, 2TB Hard drive

Go to solution Solved by WunderWuffle,

I like my Seagate Barracuda. I can't even hear it and it's pretty fast.

This: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/seagate-internal-hard-drive-st2000dm001 would be fine for using as a everyday harddrive. I don't know how loud it is but my dad has the 1TB version and I've never even heard it. As for speed it is pretty much average for the price :)

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

Looking for a fast, silent (as silent as possible for this case), 2TB hard drive for my PC build. Any suggestions?

For best performance, though not the best price, Western Digital Black Series will be your best bet. (1-4TB)

For price-to-performance ratio, that crown would sit with Seagate Barracuda HDDs.

Both are quiet and great performers. And to be quite honest, I wouldn't go with ANY others beside those two. That's just me though, after having over 300 (literally) HDDs crash on me.

You might want to do an RMA on that then.

I've only ever heard about 2-3 of them over a fan at 50% speed. And, again, that's going through roughly 60 of them for client builds.

WD Black and Velociraptor are the fastest drives. Personally cannot recommend Seagate drives. Five out of the five 1.5TB drives I purchased two years ago are dead.... all of them (YMMV).

Have been testing the Toshiba DT01ACA300 drives, been having pretty good luck. Performance is pretty good. Temperatures are very good. Silent drive. At around $100 dollars these little drives are excellent.

Same here with any seagate drive I've bought, tis' the reason I put only WD blue/black HDD in friend's systems.
