Hey all,

I have recently completed a new build and I am experiencing some issues when trying to wake my PC from sleep.

PC:

  • Asus Tuf X570 Gaming Plus -BIOS ver. 1407
  • Ryzen 7 3800x
  • 32GB RAM
  • RTX 3080 FE
  • 1TB NVMe
  • 1TB SSD
  • 1TB HDD
  • Corsair RMx 850
  • be quiet! 500DX case
  • Windows 10 19043.1165 - x64

The problem as follows occurs when trying to wake the PC:

When the PC is in Sleep mode and the power button is pressed to 'wake it', the PC refuses to start.

Once the button is pressed, the button light continues blinking and the RGB lights come on (however in a generic mode, not the one defined in AURA). Also, the mouse & keyboard fail to light up.

The only option is to hold the power button down (shut PC down) and start again. This usually results in the same issue.

It usually takes 3-4 tries before the PC boots normally.

This sometimes also occurs when booting the PC after it had been shutdown.

So far have tried the following:

  • Confirmed latest drivers/updates
  • Disabled Hybrid Sleep and Fast startup (this fixed issue for a couple days, but it has started occuring again)
  • Using AMD Ryzen Balanced power plan (checked settings and don't see anything wrong)
  • Checked Event Viewer but don't see any issues (only the forced shutdowns when trying to wake PC)

I'm not experiencing any other issues.

Also, this is my first Ryzen build, so not sure if this is a common problem or a settings conflict issue somewhere.

Please let me know if any further info is required.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Start by updating your BIOS - Sounds like an issue transitioning from lower sleep states, so BIOS update is a good place to start

Thanks for the suggestion, will give this a go.

Not having done a BIOS update before, is there a specific version I should go to? I.e. 1 version newer than current, or just go straight for the latest ver.?

I have also done the following so far as well:

In cmd:

  1. powercfg -h off
  2. restart
  3. powercfg -h on
  4. restart

This fixed the issue for around 3-4 days, has now started re-occuring. Even when booting after a Shutdown...

Just go straight to newest version, unless there's a note on the download page advising otherwise.

That's interesting, though not sure if related - easy to verify though

What you did there, was disable "hibernation", then restart (I'm guessing this allows windows to delete the hibernation file), then re-enable hibernation.

It is likely a symptom, not a cause of the issue - but we can play around with it if the BIOS update doesn't do anything for you
