Hi guys,

So I've had this pc for a while and it functioned just fine for quite some time but now for a couple of months my pc has just been randomly shutting off and I can only start it again if I hold down my power button to shut it off and then turn it on again.

After it's been shut off this is what I see on my screens (see picture). At first I thought it happened because my cpu ran too hot (which it did) so I bought a new cooler which did a great job and it didn't randomly shut off for about 2 weeks or so.

After that it just started happening again and that's when I became kind of hopeless and came to this forum. I really hope someone here can help me with my issue or someone else has had this problem because it's really quite frustrating when you're in the middle of a game and your pc just shuts off.

Specs of my pc:

Cpu: Intel Core i5 8600K

Motherboard: ASRock Z370 Extreme4

Graphics card: Amd Radeon RX 5700XT

RAM: Kingston HyperX Predator RGB 2x 8GB

Cpu cooler: Noctua NH-D15

How hot did this chip run exactly? And how long did you run it like that? Obviously you want someone to tell you that's not the problem, but you probably know that's what's likely the problem. You could try fiddle with the bios, reset to defaults, flash to newest version etc. You could also try and turn off XMP if you have it on. These things, start with turning off xmp and reseting bios settings to default, if that doesn't help, flash to newest non-beta bios, you'd be out of options at that point. Hopefully the cpu isn't dying, update on what you tried my man, good luck.

I'm quite ashamed to say it but the chip probably ran at 90℃+ for more then an hour. This was because I didn't know back then that it was running this hot. So there is a chance my cpu might me a bit fried. I've reset my bios and turned of XMP so let's see if that makes any difference. After that I'm going to try to flash to the newest non-beta bios and if that still doesn't work it may be time to look into buying a new cpu.
