Anyway I believe I may have found myself a really awesome mechanical keyboard to buy, not too sure if its out yet (in the UK) but from what I can see this mechanical keyboard is extremely similar to that of a  Filco Ninja Majestouch-2, Tenkeyless

The mechanical keyboard is the : CM Storm QuickFire Stealth, really excited about it due to it having blue cherry mx switches but besides that the it has all the four mainstream switches, matte black blank keys and its form factor "tenkeyless" makes it compliant with small/large desks. The only complaint I could further discourage is that it has no backlit LEDS (CM Storm QuickFire TK) but I can ensure that won't stop me from gaming and writing.

Might wait a bit too see if ducky can release a new Year of the (Chinese zodiac animal) limited edition mechanical keyboard. :D

I think there's a Ducky Year of the Snake Edition coming out, not sure when though. Meanwhile I have the Ducky Shine II 78 Version, and seriously contemplating a YOTD myself....since I was born in the YOTD too.

I really like Ducky boards. They are very solid but I don't like the specific 'year of the...' ones, the custom keys really throw me visually. I use a 9087 (TLK) and its cool.

Speaking of which, I'm thinking of getting the DK9087G2 Pro, the one with white PBT keycaps....looks kind of cool. I don't really need another KB, but it seems I'm on a mech KB buying spree right now.

If i was to purchase custom key caps to go along with this mechanical keyboard which should i choose:

laser etched or engraved

the laser etched wont benefit me at this point due to there being no backlit keys and no too sure about engraved due to the depth

I think first make sure you select a high quality replacement set of keycaps. Make sure the brand is good and they have no issues with like fading or turning yellow(different colors).

Also pay close attention to the layout of the key cap set. Not all mechanical keyboards use the same size keycaps. Some have shorter/longer space bars and such. Guys like Razer use Costar stabilizes that attached to some of the longer keys and may not work with keycap replacement sets.

What are your recommended keyboard wrist rests? I have tried using squishy rubber silicone rests they're decent but don't really approve of the feel and not the best fit

If cherry mx keyswitches comes default with a empty space for singular LED does this mean that the consumer of the mechanical keyboards can add extra mods like lighting.

You can see the space right below the actual cross/plus switch.

Gonna try soldering some led lights but really wanna make sure that i don't mess up. if someone who is more experienced can tell me what size 5mm or 3mm is compatible for diffrerent switches unless they're pretty much the same

Non-backlit keyboards won't have the required circuitry or firmware for backlighting. If you wanted to hack together a seperate circuit for the backlighting, you might be able to achieve it.

Also, the Cooler master stealth keyboard isn't coming to the UK. I contacted them as I was going to buy one, but they're not interested in bringing it over for whatever reason.

I am thinking of importing for the USA over to the UK with a razer mamba >_>

I'm actually disputing whether a number pad is actually useful. As I've used a laptop for these past 2 year (building a gaming pc) I'm not quite sure about using a mechanical keyboard with a full number pad
