Hi all,

in the process of ironing out some details on my rather unique build, I am laying my graphics card flat.

That's not exactly rocket science and been done before.

I'm going to use a PICe extension cable as well b nobody seems to manufacture the one I need which would be 90 degrees angled at the MB slot and straight at the card side.

So I'm making do with a straight-straight cable and want to use one of the slot brackets in the picture.

Now what irritates and worries me is that there are two main variations of the bracket; one facing left one facing right.

The direction I need (pictured) always seems to come with some capacitors soldered on.

Of course, always, the stuff I need has to be the weird stuff.

There are other versions of this product, some shorter, whatever.

But they ALL have caps. Some larger, some more.

But why? The extension cables can make do without (unless there are some under the plastic), why do I need caps for what should be basically pass-through?

Why is this? And will it impact usability?

10cm soft riser exists. Just tuck the cable down.

Simply to assist in the extra length of the potential extension. Necessary? As you said, probably not, however the manufacture of the device you pictured thought they would be useful. No, they will not impact your usability, they were put there as a benefit.

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro

That's what the unknowing mind will assume.

But this is China, I'm not always relying on the factory necessarily knowing what they're building crap for😉

I'm far more interested in hard facts on the matter.

Expecially considering that the 'left-hand' adapters don't have caps but all facing 'right' do. The other side facing ones actually looked better, black, more pro.
