HP Workstation Help

Go to solution Solved by Parabellum117,

Nevermind. did some more messing around with AHCI in the BIOS and now it works... 😛

I recently purchased an HP xw8600 workstation off Craigslist... figured it would be a cool project to work on, and I got it for only $100 dollars. Specs are:

(2 processors) Intel Xeon x5482 @ 3.2 GHz

64Gb DDR2 @ 667MHz

9Tb of WD Enterprise HDDs

Nvidia Quadro FX1500 (Old but better than nothing... planning on getting a newer Quadro later)

Originally I did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro (since home does not support 2x processors) on one of the hard drives, and it worked fine. Was pretty speedy, but the hard drive seemed like a bottleneck, at least in terms of boot and load times. So I decided to run by Best Buy and grab a 120gb SATA SSD to use as a boot drive for the OS. I plugged it in (and unplugged all the HDDs while I installed the OS) and put in the flash drive with my install media. The Windows install media drive showed the 120Gb SSD, which I formatted and then selected, and begun installation. However, once it reaches the point where it has copied all the Windows files onto the new boot drive and says it must restart to continue, I run into issues. When the computer boots back up, it goes directly to the install media (USB drive) and back to the start where it asks for install language, Windows version, etc. instead of continuing with the installation. I do have boot priority in the BIOS set up correctly with the SSD in priority 1. I have tried unplugging the flash drive I am using to install Windows, but then the workstation gives the message: "No system disk or disk error" or something along those lines.

I have already tried disabling network boot, doing a BIOS update, and a couple other small things, but at this point I am clueless. I know people have put SSDs in the xw8600 before, but for some reason I cannot figure it out. Would LOVE some help!
