Budget (including currency): <1000

Country: Western Europe

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Staking Ethereum

Other details This machine will be online 24/7, so sound, power efficiency and durability are important.

Throwaway account for obvious reasons.

I am planning to start staking Ethereum. As of now on the beacon chain but I would like to keep staking for at least 5 years, so a somewhat capable CPU is needed for after the merge (in a year or so staking will become more difficult).

Since this is only my 2nd pc build, comments would be very much appreciated. This is the build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/G8vj68

I chose the 10th gen CPU because of power usage compared to the 11th. But I am not sure yet if giving up the PCIe 4.0 is a mistake.

Thanks!

This isnt reddit. Post in your main account, noone can harrass you for mining and get away completely scot free. Anyway, your system looks very solid except that i would go for a better ram, something like the Crucial Ballistix refresh, or G-Skill Ripjaws. Also the define lineup is pretty outdated thermally, so consider getting something like Pure Base 500DX or Meshify C if you want a quieter case.

Thanks for the reply. I rather not have people link my account to my personal name and letting people know I have Eth validator.

Why would you go for better RAM? AFAIK the intel can't use faster RAM, right?

Great point on the case, didn't notice it was 5 years old. I replaced it with the meshify 2 compact. Really like the ease of use for the cleaning of the air filters.

Idk how staking works but based on the cpu and ssd choice + no gpu the staking system will work similarly to chia mining so you will need a good endurace and speed storage device and also a decent cpu aswell

Ik the cpu doesnt have an igpu but you can just buy a cheap display adapter such as the hd 5450 or 6350 etc.

Swapped the obselete and overpriced 970 for a cheaper, faster, and better mushkin pilot e 2tb

If the cpu is overkill and you swap it to a 5600x then you might be able to sqeeze in another 1 or 2tb ssd
