Background: Building a PC with a 5700G + Asus TUF Gaming B550 Plus-Wifi MOBO (Build). The Q-LED light indicated a DRAM issue, but system still did not post after reseating RAM sticks, trying 1 or the other etc. It's likely that the MOBO requires a BIOS update to be compatible with the 5700g.

Problem:

Therefore, now I'm trying to do a USB BIOS Flashback via MOBO's innate function.

I downloaded version 2407 from here. Reformatted the USB to FAT32, and then extracted the BIOS files onto the USB. Then ran the renamer, and deleted the renamer. The only file left on the USB was the BIOS file (TGB550PW.CAP).

Plugged the USB into the BIOS flashback slot, and held down the button for 3 seconds. The light would flash 3 times, and remain solid for up to 2 hours without any change.

Asus support page indicate that solid light = BIOS flashback is not working properly and to retry. I've tried 3 different USBs also as some reddit posts suggested not all USBs work due to driver difference but none of them have worked. I'm scratching my head trying to figure this out, does anyone have had any experience with this?

Thanks

Is the USB stick formatted in Fat32?

Yes, the 3 USBs (64 with 32gb partition, 16gb and 8gb) were all formatted to FAT32.

You inserted the USB stick into the correct USB slot on your rear IO correct? The flashback will only work with the singular slot that is marked on your rear IO shield.

Yes, it's inserted into the slot that has the BIOs Flashback box over it.

did you use the BIOS renamer tool that gets downloaded with the Asus BIOS to rename the BIOS file? If you don't do this or set it up correctly as outlined in that website I linked you, the flashback will not work.

Yes. I used the renamer. I did everything step by step.

If you followed the process then it should work. If its not, you may need to contact Asus support then for your board.

Everything was followed to a tee. I also tried previous versions of the BIOS and could not get it to work.

Contacted support and they said the only option is to send it in to get it fixed. =/

I'm having a similar issue but I'm updating from a Ryzen 5 1600 to a Ryzen 7 5800x on my B550-I, Which required a flash update. Managed to get into bios but after a change I made in bios I can't reenter bios.

When I did my initial bios I did it in a regular USB port. Maybe try that?
