Budget (including currency): Not a factor

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: High end gaming and video editing

Other details Hello, I currently have a computer running a i7-107000, 1660 Super, and 16GB of stock lenovo RAM. I am looking to do some upgrades, wondering what would be the most beneficial. The GPU is fine, no issues. More interested in upgrading the Processor or the RAM. Would upgrading the ram to say Corsair or some patriot RAM(Stay the same at 16GB or possibly just going up to 32GB). Or looking into upgrading the processor to a i9? What would benefit my build the most?

Honestly? At least for gaming: Basically only a faster GPU. The CPU you have is plenty fast for any game out there. The most limiting factor here almost certainly is your GPU - neither more (or different) RAM or a faster CPU will bring any significant benefits in gaming.

I have a 10400F and 2060 and am GPU bottlenecked in most games, so your 1660S would probably bottleneck that 10700. Depends how much you want to spend on it, but the GPU that currently has the best price is the 6600 XT. At MSRP things are different, but Nvidia is way more expensive vs AMD right now.

If you don't game a CPU upgrade would be good. Since you have Lenovo RAM, I assume it's from a prebuilt so the motherboard's VRM probably isn't good enough for an i9. I would recommend an X570 + 5800X or 5900X depending on the budget

If you really want to upgrade, since you said you do some video editing, I'd get more RAM.

Even for gaming, it might help. A couple of newer games do like more than 16GB - Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition, for example, can use close to 14GB on its own with no other applications running, so if you also want to have something open at the same time, more RAM would help. Plenty of modded games have wanted more than 16GB of RAM for years - one time I tried heavily modded Minecraft and it consumed 24GB, for example.

Lenovo prob only put a single stick of 16gb ram which cripples cpu performance so upgrade to 24 or 32gb of ram

If its actually 2 8gb sticks instead of 1 16gb stick then just save the ram upgrade for later unless you really need more ram
