Memory not in QVL? Help!

Go to solution Solved by Tegneren,

Most likely it will be fine. The QVL only shows the ones they have specifically tested, other kits within the supported range will likely work just fine.

Earlier gen Ryzen was a bit finicky with the RAM support, but Zen 3 is not that picky

Hi,

After being messaged around for a few weeks by amazon I refunded my order of Trident Z Neo and am yet again looking at buying this to pair with a 5900x - https://uk.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k16g36c16u4wl - and hoping it turns up as a dual rank kit. However after checking the mobo qvl (Asus b550-e) I can't seem to find it on there... Can anybody tell me if this memory will be fine or if has been used with this mobo before? 😄

Thanks for the help,

Stay safe,

Lex.

why are you hoping for slower RAM, any specific tasks you have in mind?

"Beside speaking of performance generally Single Rank Memory is faster than Dual Rank Memory, in laymen’s terms when a computer accesses Single Rank Memory it only has to go around the track once, where as Dual Rank it would have to go around the track twice."

Not sure what a track is but sounds going once, should be faster than going twice?

ps: if you're talking about "dual channel" there is no hoping involved, you buy a "kit" and dual channel is guaranteed.

The direction tells you... the direction

From my understanding single rank makes it easier for the supplier to push higher mhz on the memory. Dual rank seems to be faster when it comes to professional applications, even if only by a few % and when it comes to gaming the difference is negligible. Overall, I believe dual rank was considered "slow" when Ryzen had a weak memory controller which has since been resolved with a far stronger one. This video explains it better than I can 😄 . Also, correct me if i'm wrong xD, my information and knowledge isnt based off of personal experience or testing but is based of off information from multiple sources / opinions and then forming my own.
