Progress report...

08.15.2021 _  No new parts have arrived. But some good news did.

The deliver day for the Tomahawk motherboard has moved up from the 27th to the 17th.

The 550 GPU is now in transit and only a couple of states away. it was originally due the 30th.

I'm thinking everything will be here by weeks-end. I've set aside time this weekend to bring it all together.

08.17.2021 _  My MSI x570 Tomahawk motherboard arrived today along with some of the last fiddly-bits. GPU is scheduled to arrive later today, but I'm thinking tomorrow might be more likely.  This weekend is still looking good for Winterfell.

_  The SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 550 GPU arrive after all. The seal on the box was broken.  This was supposed to be a NEW card, starting to have my doubts... Okay, I always had some doubts, now I have a few more.  Inside the box is the GPU wrapped in bubblewrap and some paperwork in the bottom of the box.  I'll look around online to be sure that was all that was supposed to be in the box.. Back to cleaning/rearranging the office.

08.18.2021 _  Thumb drive for Windows 10 iso and some fliddly-bits arrived.  Will burn drive today. iMac currently transferring files to external for transfer, I think it best not to burn the iso at the same time.

WINTER IS COMING

All major components and most of the fliddly-bits have arrived. Will continue prepping office/desk today. My Macs have been stripped of their peripherals and extra monitor.

Beware the White Walkers...

08/21/2021 - Major Step forward - Made it all the way to its first POST, then called it a night.

08/22/2021 - First setback.  - Winterfell is not reading the flash drive with WinInstall. I think this has to do with having to create the ISO disk from a Mac. I've already tried 2 or 3 different methods, about to try another. This last one was more involved... I hope it works. --- It did, here I go... I'll report back later.

08/22/2021 - Back on Path.  After much Mixing and matching of iso files with a large number of differently formatted USB drives, I stumbled across a combination that worked and let me delete, format (my pervious failed attempt) and even install.  I'm currently running through updates.

08/22/2021 - Mission Accomplished.  I think I've now updated everything. I did install Chrome as part of upgrading as well as software from various hardware companies as well as the drivers. Tomorrow will be BOIS and then software installation and some desktop cable management.. I also held off on setting up the 4K monitor. Not sure how well its going to play with the 2gb Radeon 550.

P.S.  This is the first post from Winterfell.
