  1. I got 'File Meta Association Manager' up and running. Took a bit of poking around and some trial and error, (heavy on the error) to get it to work. We'll see how well it works in my normal pipeline, I think I'm happy.
  2. I tried it. Unfortunately, its not going to work for me. File Meta Association Manager https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tags-for-unsupported-files-windows This looks promising but I'm stuck trying to install it. It not a good sign when I can't even follow the first steps. The software is on Github. I am completely lost. I download the file. I extract the zip. And I don't see a .exe file, nor anything else I can 'Run'. I'm guessing it wants me to do something in a 'Terminal'... or something, but who knows. This stuff kills me. I need
  3. The screen shots for that app look nothing like my Explorer on Windows 10. >> I should restate just how new I am to Windows, I've been driving a Mac for 30+ years without touching a PC, so I might just be lost again. I already find Explorer and the location of files the most difficult thing to get my head around on Windows 10. It looks like the app adds yet another hierarchal view of files (the ones with tags) instead of just adding a new column with the tag info to the existing layout. (I prefer the 'Detail' view over the other choices). I've been t
  4. So far the tagging apps I've found don't 'tag' within the File Explorer, but they are their own alternate version of Explorer. -- Not what I was hoping for. I hate to be 'one of those guys' but what I'm looking for is something that does work like it does on MacOS. Any ideas?
  5. So, I guess I'll need to find a Tag Manager of some type. -- Don't need much, color coding the PNG files would be enough. But I guess If I need an app to do that, I'll see what's available, maybe some additional features could be nice. Anyone have any suggestions? A quick search brings up 'Stagsi', anyone heard of it?
  6. Simple question from a noob. I am perplexed with the simple task of adding a tag to a PNG file in File Explorer. I've looked up how to achieve this, but no joy. Unfortunately, I seem to be missing something... I can follow along with the instructions until I get to "On the Details tab, double-click the Tags line to add one or more tags, separating each one with a semicolon". -- I don't have a Tag line in my Details tab. (as you can see in the attached image). What am I overlooking? Thanks for any help you can send my way. I just want to tag (c
  7. As a semi-retired, semi-senior myself, I bid you welcome. I just build my first PC ever last week... and I come from 30+ years behind a Mac. So if I can do it, so can you. I didn't build mine for gaming, more to once again have a top tier graphic workstation. Turns out they overlap quite a bit. I'm running what I call my 'crappy' temp GPU. Its better then I expected but I'm going to have to hold off exploring 4K video editing until hell thaws out and I can pick up an MSRP 3080. This is also going to effect how my PC runs as a gamer. Which is sad as I've beco
  8. Much Progress made... I upgraded the BIOS via MSI's Dragon Center software. It seems to have taken care of the issue with using the audio ports on the motherboard. First time to do something like this. All went smoothly, however I was not comfortable doing the operation. (It was an alien experience for this Mac guy). Every time I successfully accomplish something like this, I feel a little less intimated by the Wacky World of Windows.
  9. No headphone jack on the monitor. I also checked the BIOS, the motherboard's on-board audio was enabled. (I thought this was going to be the answer). Speaker icon points to "Digital Audio"
  10. I've got an audio problem with my new build. Hopefully just something I'm overlooking... I've tried Headphones (via a splitter since they come with a combo mic/audio plug) in both the external and rear panels. I've also tried speakers plugged into both jacks... No joy. Both the headphones and speakers work on my Mac. But no sound on the PC. I followed the self test and replaced the audio drivers. Side note, Windows 10 seems to think my monitor has speakers, it does not. Any suggestions?
  11. Mixing and matching the iso files with all of the differently formatted USB drives, I stumbled across a combination that worked and let me delete, format and even install. I'm currently running through updates. The phone idea sounded interesting.
  12. How do you format the USB drive? What file format do you use?
  13. It will not let me delete the files from the installer, just gives an error message.
  14. Got my first build put together yesterday. Went pretty smooth, took my time. At the end of the day, I hit the power button and... It posted. Todays mission is to install Windows 10 64bit Pro (without a license for now) Got off to a bad start when the install flash drive was not recognized by the PC. This was always a fear because I have to create the WinInstall USB disk on my Mac. I went through several different ways to transfer the iso to the drive. All but the last one fail to even be recognized. The last one was recognized, in fact it started the insta
