So a while ago i made a topic about whether or not i should replace my thermal compound on my laptop...

I finally committed to doing it yesterday with Antec Formula 7 Nano Diamond thermal compound. The temps are much lower, but my fan seems to be louder, and hotter air seems to be coming out of the vents even though the temps are about 60 Degrees Celcious. Whats going on?

It is Celsius, and the fans are louder since they are spinning faster lowering the temperatures.

Whoops sorry for the typo

If the fans spin faster, that means the thermal paste is working properly right, because the thermal compound is transferring the heat to the heat pipes faster?

they should run slower since more heat would go out of the cpu, making it send slower PWM signal to the fan.

The cpu is still producing the same amount of heat. The thermal compound just makes the contact between the cpu and the heatsink better making the transfer of heat from the cpu to the heatsink out the vents more efficient.

The same amount of heat should be being expelled by the notebook and the fan speed would be the same speed to keep it cooler and would only be quieter if your cpu was the same temperature as before and the thermal compound you applied is doing a better job then the stock tim.

Before i replaced the thermal paste, the fans would not spin at around 60 degrees.

I kind of doubt the fans wouldn't spin at all at 60 degrees celsius

Once i was worried my fan was not working, so i opened up the bottom plate while at 60 Degrees and it did not spin. When i opened an application, it would start spinning

For some strange reason, on HWmonitor, the GPU monitor shows 43 Degrees, and using GPU Tweak, it shows that the GPU temp is 75 Degrees

Is HWMonitor using a different temperature sensor than Gpu Tweak?

I used HWMonitor...

Should i not trust the temps being displayed there?

Ok, is this normal?

The fan dips to a low speed, the ramps up again. It happens every 2-3 minutes.

Its making a quiet whining noise that i have never heard before.

Im just worried that replacing the thermal paste yesterday made the laptop worse.
