Budget (including currency): USD$ I don't actually have much of a budget. I guess I'd prefer it to be under 1k$.

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: RDR2 and other less CPU/GPU intensive games (I'm fairly casual)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I do not have a PC anymore. All of the parts from the one someone built for me last died (spare parts from them). I have a 960 GPU and I'd like the build to be compatible with that. I'm planning to buy in a few months and as soon as I have a part list. I am not very good at this sort of thing and could really use the help! I already have the case as well. and I only have one monitor right now. I'm more focused on getting something functional so I can play anything rather than nothing.

Thanks in advance for the help, please let me know what else you need from me~

1K without a GPU is fairly easy to do.

What case do you have?  It may be worth upgrading that, depending on what it is.

Something like this, without the GPU Would be a great build.  Could skip the HDD if you want, too.

PSU could go down to ~550W as well for another discount.

Something like this would be a good start:

- 6 core CPU would be fine for gaming, AMD is best choice right now. Could go for 8 cores  (5800X) if you also do heavier tasks like video editing.

- Good CPU cooler

- 16 GB of RAM should suffice for now, can go for 32 GB to be a bit more future proof.

- Nice fast NVME SSD storage drive 1TB should get you up and running. Can add additional storage if you need more space.

- Good gold rated power supply

- The GTX 960 will be compatible and get you up and running. I would suggest upgrading that when GPU prices come down a bit.

- Case is personal preference, this is a popular reasonably priced one.

Good luck!

Hey thank you for this list, it's very helpful. I have a Corsair iCUE 220T case. I should have mentioned 🙂

I will look at these when I'm home from work!
