The SSD is detected in Device Manager but not in control panel. bios, or computer management

Detects here:

but not here

or here image.thumb.png.538c5defcdb1d4c9daba69240f09e35d.png

It doesnt show in bios either unless I have something in there setup wrong.  I have tried multiple sata cables I just cant find the drive so I can utilize it.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know this is a fairly "new" ssd and probably still under warranty.

Please help, Thanks James

Assign it a drive letter if it is not already by right clicking on the drive and then selecting a letter.

Does it show up in diskpart? (launch the command prompt, type diskpart, and then list disk). You should be able to select it and clear it from there.

It is only showing my M.2 ssd here also and not the sata ssd   500GB, unless I am doing something wrong, idk.  sorry

Do this where? From Device Manager? not able to do this tried already

Thanks Though

Right click on your partition(or probably the whole drive), and then click this:

Then from the dropdown, assign it a letter.

Try if this works

Okay, so if I understand correctly, the drive which is not showing up is the 500GB one, right?

Don't change the letter for the already existing C drive, but assign the 500GB one a new letter.

EDIT: Just hold on, I think I didn't understand you correctly. @jhunt80(tagging you so you get a notification)

I think this has something to do with your BIOS. Your computer doesn't seem to recognize the drive at all. Check your BIOS configs once.

Theres a chance that for some reason your bios defaulted to RAID instead of AHCI (i think) which means all sata ports might be disabled.

Thats what my gigabyte x570 master did anyway, i wasted hours trying to get my mx500 2tb to show up.

TBH I do think the M.2 is setup in raid,  where in bios should I be looking, some key words areas to change could be helpful,  I have an Asus x570 xhair VIII

I only have the one PC but I could take SS from phone

Id assume something like Advanced mode -> anything that says storage configuration and then SATA mode

every bios is different, if it already says AHCI then your good, remember to actually save it if you change it.

I could go into bios but I am not super familiar in there of what to look for or change and this is my only pc as my laptop is pretty much dead but I could get on my phone.  I do think maybe it has something to do with being setup in raid for some reason

If im not mistaken some motherboards disable certain Sata ports when M.2 drives are in use.

Perhaps try a different sata port.

your bios settings look right to me, hot plug is just a setting to prevent windows from treating it like a permanent drive to prevent data loss when.. hot swapping like a usb stick, i think.

What do you think Hot plug enabled. On what looks like the satanport it’s connected too

Can’t quite understand what you mean, but hot plug essentially allows you to change, add or remove drives from a port, and that wouldn’t help you with this problem

Idk I tried another sata port same issue.  The only place the pc will see the 590GB sata drive is under device manager I can’t get anywhere from there.  Diskpart and computer management do not show the 500GB sata only the 1TB NVME.   Only place so far I can find the 500GB sata drive in. Bios is that hot plug.  I tried changing 3 different sata ports in the mobo and still all is same.   So I guess I am stuck
