Legacyxblood401

Hey guys, my family has an old network drive that needs to be wiped, issue is we don't have the server anymore. I tried to plug it in externally to do it but it wont show up. I cant format in disk management also, any ideas.

Why do you want to vipe it? Just to get rid of it or to reuse it? I'd try installing it internally as well, maybe your external enclousure doesn't provide enough power.

It has old compony info on it, Also the external drive reader is running off a wall outlet. It shows the drive but just tells me its empty and wont let me format. I can change the drive letter but then it wants me to sync it to the main pc

Well so if it's old, you want to format it and has "classified" data on it i'd just take a good ol' drill, put a couple holes through it and throw it in the trash.
It doesn't sound like you should spend much time getting it to work again since it's probably slow and low capacity anyways.

If you still wanna try, maybe connect it to a Linux Desktop as that's usually more compatible.
