Budget (including currency): ~$2000 - $2200 aud

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Valorant, witcher 3 and minecraft. Will also be doing photo editing on it and CAD.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I have been using my Dell G3 Laptop for the past couple years and its been crashing more and more frequently. Thought it's time for a actual rig I've put together a parts list but I don't really know anything about computers and would really appreciate any and all help.

So I was like pretty nice system with some issues and then a 1050ti which is a 1080p 60fps low card nowadays.

So yeah not a good system and from gpu prices I can see it's going to have to be a compromises build.

This will game nicely and I kept budget free for a i7 10700 OR better gpu

Why the changes?

Case well the h510 sucks in a bad way. It has bad airflow and especially in australia you need a good airflow case hence the mesh front 4000d.

Cpu is a 10400 good cpu better can be had change accordingly. A 10900k was total overkill for your needs. As even Cad is basically all single core.

Ram, ssd and such are just different good options

Psu is better because the 3060 requires a better unit this one allows you up to MAX a 3070 in this current config

No windows key because 3$ ebay windows keys

Cooler is plenty for a 10400f.

So I completly agree with jaslion before me, the system is pretty unbalanced, but thats okay. It's a difficult market a the moment.

In my list, I began with the GPU and tried to fit everything else around it. Unfortunately I went 20 AUD over Budget, but I think going for the best GPU is the way to go here. The RX6700XT performs way better then the 3060 and sits between the 3060ti and the 3070. So a pretty decent card.

The motherboard is a B550, so you can upgrade your CPU later down the line, but if you want to save some money and plan on using that CPU for long, then "downgrading" to a good b450 board. The only diffence to a B550 board is support with new Ryzen 5000 series CPU's, so no hard feelings there.

I opted for a drive thats a bit higher quality for boot, so 500GB boot drive and a 2TB HDD for storage of games, projects and pictures.

If you have the budget later, you can upgrade the stock cooler for a better one, a be quiet one shadow rock or a cooler master hyper 212 evo. This will improve your thermal performance, longevity of the cpu and also airflow on the case. The case is a pretty good airflow case. With an additional fan (the arctic ones are great price-performance) you will have the best results.

And yes, no windows key because Ebay. Also good for MS Office.
