max fps in CS:GO

chem

Hi Guys,

I have the following setup:

Processor: Core i5 4460

GPU: GTX 1070, 8gb video memory

RAM: 8gb ddr

Monitor: Acer Predator XB253Q (Full hd, 165hz)

Board: Gigabyte: H97M-HD3

And now I'm wondering what upgrade would give me the best fps boost? I just want constant high fps to gain the most out of my new monitor (I was playing on an lg 4k monitor before, but I wanted to test out 165hz)

Budget: 100€

Also is that 2x4GB or just a single 8GB stick of RAM?

You can probably hit 144, but the single stick of RAM and outdated platform + CPU will hurt your FPS alot.
Best upgrade you can do atm is get a second DDR3, that would help.

CPU Upgrade.  CSGO cares more about CPU than GPU for high FPS

Board: Gigabyte: H97M-HD3

what would be a good cpu?

Just keep what you have and save up. Maybe get a 5600x later on, as that is the best CPU for CSGO atm (thats not the otehr zen 3 cpus)

I think I will go this route. what ddr3 stick would fit this setup: https://imgur.com/a/TEJnPWD

Second question: should I change the settings to 144hz If i cant hit 165 constantly?

I mean idk what your current RAM stick is, so I can't really tell until you tell me the sticks speed and CAS latency.

You can always change between 144 and 165, difference isnt that big tho

And does it make sense to overlock some these parts?

I could not find the exact same ram stick. it's is 1600 mhz, 9-9-9-24 timing

am I better off buying another 8gb stick with the same specs or buying two new 8gb sticks and selling the old one?

Another 8GB 1600 CL9 kit will get the job done,
