DD-WRT assistance

I had a perfectly functioning router and I was happy, then my breaker was tripped and my router no longer works at all, I have tried multiple resets and flashing of DD-wrt firmware and yet it remains unable to connect to the internet

 

At first I blamed the ISP as the AP in my apartment wasn't connecting either after running a cable to my PC-after they remotely reset the AP, I am now able to access the internet that way but my router still can't connect to the internet for reasons unknown-I have a supported model for dd-wrt, the netgear r9000/Nighthawk X10

 

This is very frustrating for me, I don't mind things breaking, I mind not understanding how they are broken, what steps do you guys suggest I take here?

1. Connect your network as normal. (Modem->Router->PC)
2. Unplug the power of both the router and the modem and power down the PC.
3. Plug in the modem power and wait for it to connect.
4. Plug in the router power and wait for it to connect.
5. Power up the PC.

If that doesn't work then that power surge may have bricked your router.

its definitely not bricked since I can access the web interface and change/apply settings. I've tried cycling the power multiple times, can you suggest anything else?

 

I'll add that it gave a DNS error but when I set the DNS to google DNS, windows troubleshooter now says it can't identify the problem

But have you done it in that specific order?

 

Is your PC getting an IP address from the router's dhcp? Try manually setting it to something like 192.168.1.2 (assuming the routers IP is 192.168.1.1).

I can't power cycle the AP as its not my property, would violate my lease and I literally can't power cycle it, it is functioning properly as I can jack into it and access the internet thru it as for power cycling the router and PC in that order, yes I have

 

I've added a screenshot of the settings menu, so I would say yes I have an IP address assigned by the DHCP, is there any other screenshots I can take that would be of use to you?

Yes. Give me two screenshots. Both of the same window. One when your PC is directly connected to your modem, and another when it is connected to the router.

 

In: Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections

right click on the network adapter -> status -> details.

That is correct
