1660S is not too bad either, just choose wisely.

Used 1080Ti.  Should be able to grab one under $550.  Quite a few listings for them at that price.

A 1080Ti will literally stomp the shit out of a 1660.  As in it will pull itself out of the PCIe slot, kick the side panel off your case, wobble over to the 1660, jump up and down on it until it is in tiny little pieces, and then casually, unconcernedly wobble back to its case and snuggle back into its slot.

🙂

All sarcasm aside, the 1660 Super launched for under $250?  Now you want to pay double for it?  1080Ti launched for $700+, and you can get one for $500-$550?

If new matters, get the 1660s.  If not, get the 1080Ti.  Cuz it's about double the performance.

I understand that, so look at the 2nd set of numbers.  You have 10 and 80Ti.  10 is the generational number, 80Ti is the model number.  Kinda, for ease of understanding.

The 16 and 60 comparatively means it is a newer generation but a lesser model performance wise.

Does that help?

I personally would buy the 1080TI for my situation.  For you, if you have any issues with that Mr. Woof says, then DO NOT buy the 1080Ti.  I won't push anyone to buy something out of their comfort zone that increases risk for them.  I'll also be talking to Woof about his comments concerning my lovable 1080ti, but that's later.

I also cannot in good conscience recommend the 1660Super for $500.  It's a blatant ass-reaming of a price that you should in no way support that shit.

So basically, it's the 1080Ti if you're okay with the issues or wait a bit longer to see if prices keep dropping.

I mean more than likely the 1080 ti will be fine if it's survived this long; usually defects manifest sooner than later. But you're more likely to see fans fail, need deep cleaning/repaste, etc., and every time you open it up is another chance to break it from user error.

My 2c: Right now if you don't have a GPU, you're just in a shit spot overall. Either try to be lucky with MSRP or close to MSRP drops/shuffles, and THEN consider buying your other parts, or just buy a prebuilt and just bite the bullet for this gen.

For me if I have to overpay for a 1080ti (in this case I mean more than you used to have to pay) or a 1660s, i'd rather overpay for the new stuff
