good modem?

i live in the country and i finally got internet and didn't know a modem was required and my router doesn't have one built in.

 

i want to keep my router only need a modem.

 

speeds are only looking like 6mbps (still a gift from God compared to .5 or less from my hotspot) since it's a wisp so i dont need the ultra gamer 5gbps modem lol.

 

but i dont want to cheap out on ping

What kind of service are you getting? Depends on the medium its being carried on to what we can/will recommend.

Local ISP called unwired broadband. i could get on the roof and look at the antenna for details if needed

If it's a WISP then you shouldn't need a modem.

 

What did the WISP recommend? Didn't they provide a CPE device?

im not sure all ik is they rent routers but i dont wanna rent. i guess i could call them tomorrow

Don't guess. Find out for certain. A call to your WISP can't hurt anyone.
