Surge protector for setup

Hello, I am building my first pc and was curious about possible power constraints of a surge protector if any. My setup will be my 32" monitor, my pc whose estimated wattage is around 650, and a moca adapter which I need to hook up to the wall for power. I have 1 outlet far from my pc (6 feet) so I was hoping to use a surge protector and connect some parts to it; Is this viable? Are there concerns I should have regarding the specs of the surge protector I get? Should my psu connect to the outlet directly? I see surge protectors are rated but split among all connections, I'm an electrical noob and would like some insight as I feel I'm missing something.

Use a surge protector, they're designed to withstand the limits of a normal AC outlet, and to cut the power in the event of a surge.

Just to clarify I can connect all of the listed things in my setup to a surge protector and not worry about power delivery for my pc?

yes?  But surge protectors are low level protection, and really don't guarantee much.

A UPS Is a safer investment for a solid protection level.

Not wrong, good idea, but most people just use a surge protector.

Would a surge protector still suffice for power delivery?

A surge protector provides zero power delivery only has a built-in fuse that trips if there is a surge.   A UPS has batteries to continue powering your PC afterward.

My surge protector failed to protect me. Cost me over $5000 in electronics.

A Surge Protector is a pass thru for power delivery, so no worries there.  As for protection, that's another story.

yeah, still relevant.  Surge Protectors are cheap, kinda protection.  It might burn out and save everything, or it'll die and take everything hooked up to it, too.

ok that sounds great, I don't deal with many outtages where I am but I'll purchase a nicer protector than the one I have laying around.

No, it's not.  Was it lightning hitting the house?  If so, no surge protector can stop that.  UPS most likely can't deal with it.  Was thje surge protector fully working and not stop the incident?  Or was it faulty?
