Hi,

I've watched Linus' videos for some time now but I am kind of interested in getting some help with my issue.  I bought this computer off ebay with the premise of having a broken GPU. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201065825833?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I know how to replace a GPU in a computer, build a comp. etc.  I am wondering how to find a graphics card that is compatiable with a laptop. I already tried to reflow the card with a heatgun and no dice.  Seems like a hole different ballpark when finding a compatabile gpu for a laptop and I have not been able to find any reliable info.  If theres no compatable card I can just use the computers parts for $80, which was quite a steal for the parts I received.  Any whom, would a card like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/TESTED-Toshiba-Qosmio-X775-NVIDIA-GTX-560M-MXM-3-0B-Laptop-Video-Card-N12E-GS-A1-/321221296340?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item4aca4800d4 work in the laptop?

Thanks a lot for any and all replies, I am kind of clueless when looking at GPU's and replacing for laptops.

Dude, not a good idea to get a broken laptop, even worse, from EBay. Laptop GPUs are harder to find new. This laptop seems pretty new, except the GPU is dead. GPUs for laptops are almost impossible to find new. Good luck finding one. Good price, tho.

Current Rig: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, Abit IN9-32MAX nForce 680i board, Galaxy GT610 1GB DDR3 gpu, Cooler Master Mystique 632S Full ATX case, 1 2TB Seagate Barracuda SATA and 1x200gb Maxtor SATA drives, 1 LG SATA DVD drive, Windows 10. All currently runs like shit :D

I have the GT780. Same laptop just with the 17" screen.

Any GTX560m should work (preferably a Dell, but I see no reason the Toshiba shouldn't work)

Now if you were to bump up to a GTX580m you would need a new heatsink because the components on the gfx card would not line up. I have one of these heatsinks if your interested, I upgraded mine but have since dropped back down because my laptop is now for downloads and htpc.
