Computer Science Laptop Advice

So I'm going to be starting college getting a Bachelors in Computer Science, and my Masters in Business Administration. I'm currently considering one of the new M1 Macbooks because I want to use them to work on some app development. I'm feeling pretty hesitant about getting a M1 Macbook when the next gen ones are supposed to be out very soon. I'm just not sure whether I should wait a few months or if I should just bite the bullet and buy one of the M1 ones.

What would y'all recommend?

P.S. I have a laptop I can use until I get my own, but it's relatively old and slow.

Perhaps wait a bit for the m1+ or m2 or m1+ pro max retina II or whatever is released next.

Yeah that's what I've been thinking. Tho they do have a deal when you buy a Macbook you get free airpods. But it's probably better to just wait then buy just for the deal.

I say wait till specs of the next gen are leaked or officially released, if it's not much better than the m1 just go m1.

You can wait till the 14 inch MacBook Pro, or just get the Air on sale now since the next one is coming next year.

The M1 MacBook Air seems pretty good for me and the Unix based command line might come handy if you end up doing linux courses.

MacRumors buyers guide is handy anyway:  https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#mac

Yeah I'm thinking I'm gonna wait then, cause I'd love to have some additional ports as well if that rumor is true
