I bought a i7-9700k on ebay to replace my i3-9100, I could not get the pc to boot with the i7. It works fine with the i3. When trying to boot the mobo lights flash to the cpu led then quickly switches to the vga led and stays there. I disconnected the gpu and tried to run the pc off the intergrated graphics to no avail. I'm thinking it's a power supply issue. I have a 500w Smart Thermaltake psu, and the mobo has an extra 4 pin 12v cpu connector that I never plugged a cable into. The d-tier psu, mobo lights and missing 12v connector makes me think the new cpu does not have enough power. But could it also be a defective processor?

Thanks!
